Introducing Procedures to Deal with Coronavirus

GMI Construction Group PLC are partners of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and have introduced new procedures to ensure compliance with Government and National Health England guidelines on Coronavirus.

Social distancing has its challenges in the construction industry as with other industries, GMI are following the guidance issued in the Site Operating Procedures . Social distancing is one of the main methods to combat the spread of Coronavirus, GMI projects have taken steps to ensure all contractors working on our projects are aware of the risks and the procedures to keep to the 2m rule on social distancing.

GMI health and safety department carry out Coronavirus compliance audits on all our projects, and contractors must have a specific risk assessment for their works in compliance with Coronavirus rules, and put in place procedures were this can not be maintained.

To ensure awareness and compliance GMI have displayed government guidance on social distancing and the need to have good hygiene standards, cleaning regime and enough disposable products for cleaning and hand sanitisers.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
