JJ Rhatigan is progressing well with the return to full operations on their construction sites in line with the Government’s National Return to Work Safely Protocol, HSE guidelines and CIF Standard Operating Procedures. The project team at Maynooth University Academic Building continues to assess daily the workplace environment.

Their priority is, as always, the health, safety and wellbeing of their employees, subcontractors and the communities in which they operate.

To help stop the spread of coronavirus and to keep people safe strict protocols have been demonstrated on the site including:

  • Daily communications on the ongoing risks and controls maintained by all disciplines involved in the project
  • Dedicated coronavirus Compliance Officer on site
  • Site specific coronavirus operating procedures
  • Provision of additional good hygiene facilities in line with the quantity of personnel working on site and provision of appropriate PPE
  • Work activities risk assessed to incorporate coronavirus compliance and additional controls where necessary
  • Mandatory coronavirus training, including the CIF coronavirus induction programme, for everyone returning to work on site
  • Daily briefings and tool box talks so that everyone on site knows and understands what’s expected of them.
  • Close management and strict monitoring of everyone coming to the site as per the operating procedures including temperature screening.
This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
