The Emergency Response Team on this project were supplied with three Annie dolls from London Ambulance, so they could refresh their skills with first aiders.
Whilst they had these dolls they obtained agreement from London Ambulance to raise awareness to anyone on site who wanted to understand more about CPR. Although coronavirus prevented them from demonstrating rescue breaths, those who attended were able to review the key basics for DR ABC then chest compressions. DR ABC stands for Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing and Circulation.
The attendees were given a demonstration then, had the opportunity to workshop the scenario of finding an unconscious person, checking for danger in their surroundings, checking for a response from the casualty, calling an Ambulance, then checking that their airway was clear and if they were breathing before beginning chest compressions.
A Romanian translator for this was provided to ensure the awareness session could be carried out for those who have English as a second language.
The session took 10 mins in all and a number left with a new vital skill that could help save a colleague or loved one’s life.
