Creating Extra High Fencing to Secure the Public Highway

On this project there was a requirement to create a temporary interface to enable a hoarding section to be removed without having to close off the road. The barrier needed to be sufficiently high to prevent debris falling into the public highway.

The idea of affixing Herras fencing panels to Jersey barriers was quickly put into practise by one of the trade contractors on site. Custom metal fixings were produced that could swiftly and securely connect the fencing to the barriers

This provided a unique 3.2m high safety boundary by repurposing what was already onsite, providing a more appropriate height of barrier between the road and the construction area.

Thus, a sheltered zone was created for members of the public and workers to more safely manoeuvre around the site perimeter whilst external works were ongoing.

The system was very quick to put up and can easily be extended or moved as works change. Debris netting can also be attached for additional safety.
