Creating lasting memories with young and old residents

Ardmore has been main contractor on the Heathside and Lethbridge estate over the past 7 years carrying out the construction of Phases 2, 3 and 4 of the regeneration scheme.

At the outset of the development the residents weren’t supportive of the changes and potential disruption the regeneration development would bring. We therefore worked at building a relationship with the residents, providing an open door policy to ensure all concerns or queries could be met, liaising and frequently updating them on activities and programme status but most importantly engaging the residents into activities which assisted in building and maintaining the community approach from the existing estate through to the new development.

To assist in the retention of the resident’s memories and development of a community approach, Ardmore’s Resident Liaison team have been working with the residents closely during the weekly surgeries. The incorporation of activities such as manicures, pedicures, art, Spanish class lessons, flower making and flower pressing have all assisted. These activities have allowed the elderly in particular to have hours of pampering, fun, learning and most of all interaction with their old and new neighbours.

Ardmore’s Resident Liaison team are now working with the residents to create a lasting memory by pressing some of the flowers and greenery grown in and around the existing estate and making their own designs.  These have now been dried and pressed so the next step will be to display the designs on the hoarding around the site.  Once Ardmore completes the development the designs will remain in a dedicated position as permanent images and a legacy for the residents living on the estate to enjoy for years to come.
