Deaf Awareness Week

Deaf Awareness Week is coordinated annually by the UK Council on Deafness.

This week is focused on improving the opportunities available for deaf people in the workplace and wider community.

To support Deaf Awareness Week on your site, you could do the following:

  • Offer training, work placement and/or employment opportunities for deaf people;
  • Install a portable induction loop system on your site, to meet deaf operative and visitor needs;
  • Give workers the opportunity to learn sign language to understand and interact with deaf members of the workforce or community and to raise awareness.
