Design Competition for Local Schools

Local school pupils from Harlaw Academy and Aberdeen Grammar were supported to take part in a bespoke workshop sessions as part of a community project to mark the start of the transformation of Union Terrace Gardens (UTG) in Aberdeen.

Local pupils completing sessions were asked to build models representing new elements of UTG project. The £25.7 million Aberdeen City Council Union Terrace Gardens project will deliver pavilions, elevated walkways, event space and play facilities when complete.

The schools project was led by Balfour Beatty. Over the course of four sessions, teams of 4-8 pupils worked together to complete two challenges after first learning about the redevelopment of UTG under the City Centre Masterplan (CCMP).
