Design Engineer Construct!

‘Design Engineer Construct! (DEC) The Digital Built Environment’ is a new qualification that offers teachers and secondary school age children the opportunity to develop a range of skills crucial to successful engagement with technical and professional aspects of construction and the built environment. DEC is an accredited learning programme aimed at encouraging and inspiring the next generation of built environment professionals. It also raises awareness of the variety of professions and career options within the construction industry.

The full DEC curriculum is delivered by Scheme Supporter ‘Class of Your Own Ltd’, and encompasses an online workbook, a sustainable building project and complementary workshops which guarantee face-to-face engagement with industry professionals. Functional skills are embedded in the learning tasks.

Levels One to Three of the qualification are equivalent to GCSE and A-Level, and are coursework based, with Level One ending in a multiple choice test, whilst Levels Two and Three end with a graded exam. The DEC qualifications also provice UCAS points to those who are interested in progressing to Higher Education.
