Diversity Calendar: get closer to your community

Our company has always been on a look out for ideas on how to improve our industry’s image.

One such an idea was to recognise, respect and celebrate the diversity of the area we work in. The diversity might be a religion, nationality or culture.

One way we recognise diversity might be to decorate our hoardings in line with local holidays or special events. Another way is to respect local traditions and customs of the area we are working in. For example, if we work in an area that is predominantly Jewish and so is our client we might elect to not work Saturdays and have an earlier finish on Fridays and/ or avoiding bringing products made from pork on the premises. If the area is neutral we might celebrate events like Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter by adopting and decorating our hoardings accordingly.

By recognising, respecting and celebrating this diversity we might gain respect ourselves from the community and work together to improve our image as an industry.

We are using a Diversity Calendar to keep track of all major holidays, special days and festivals celebrated across the UK.
