Driver Academy to ensure safe driving practices

Back in July 2015, the Mick George Training Academy was launched and has gone from strength to strength.

The initiative was developed to equip new drivers with all the skills they need to ensure safe and aware driving practices in line with guidelines set out by CLOCS and FORS accreditation.

Due to increased demand the company has invested in a dedicated vehicle specifically for training purposes, which has kindly been sponsored by DAF Ford & Slater who are strong advocates of the scheme and long term suppliers to Mick George Ltd.

All applicants enrolled on the course will complete practical exercises from this vehicle containing the latest state of the art technology and surroundings.

The first applicant to experience the new lorry was Darren Bailey who is currently at the final stage of the process, commenting on this initiative he said:

‘’Before my current role I have been a driver for the majority of my career and wished to continue in that profession. Having researched the opportunity to gain such qualifications, the Mick George Driver Academy was far and away the best option. The experience has been exciting, challenging and unnerving but the guidance of the trainer has helped ease the situation immensely. I’ve enjoyed the course and hope to progress with Mick George Ltd in the future.”

The Driver Academy offers the chance to obtain your LGV C (Class 2) license with the added benefit of gaining employment as a professional LGV driver within Mick George Ltd’s rapidly expanding business.
