Electronic Ear Defenders

Site related health risks should be carefully monitored and addressed to ensure the safety of the workforce.

New practices and equipment should be constantly sought to improve the safety of operatives performing their roles on site.

Many sites have proactively sought new communication equipment, to better safeguard their workforce.

Electronic ear defenders were used instead of disposable ear plugs, which had the following benefits:

  • A button could be pressed on the electronic ear defenders which allowed the user to communicate with others without needing to remove the ear defenders;
  • This was turned off automatically after 30 seconds to prevent unnecessary exposure to high noise levels;
  • Disposable ear plugs were usually replaced several times a day, which creates more waste and also an additional cost over electronic ear defenders.
