Emergency Response Team

As part of their proactive strategy, this contractor formed an on-site Emergency Response Team (ERT) led by a First Response Emergency Care (FREC) ‘Train the Trainer’.

The ERT is composed of site personnel already trained in disciplines like First Aid, Working at Height , and plant operation. Under expert leadership, they conduct regular, site-specific drills to enhance emergency readiness. This approach goes beyond compliance, fostering a culture of preparedness, faster response, and continual learning.

This redefines the SHEQ role by integrating clinical emergency care skills (FREC Level 3) with traditional safety leadership. It introduces a dual-capacity professional who not only manages compliance but can act immediately during critical incidents.

It also ensures site teams are trained and drilled by someone with real-world emergency response expertise. This proactive capability shifts the focus from reactive measures to embedded readiness and leadership in crisis scenarios.
