Employment opportunities for young offenders

The industry as a whole should provide employment opportunities for different groups of people in the construction industry.

It is important to encourage people with varying skills and backgrounds into construction, to secure the future of the industry.

Below is an example of how this can be achieved:

  • The site manager, with support from the company promoted a scheme with the local Young Offenders Centre;
  • This encouraged local young offenders to gain site experience and acquire initial trade skills;
  • The company supported the scheme, by covering the cost of obtaining the necessary CSCS cards.
