Empower Yourself with Alison

Alison was set up in 2007 in Galway (Republic of Ireland), and with over 12 million learners, is currently one of the world’s largest free online learning platforms for education and skills training. Inspired by Article 26 of 1946 Declaration of Human Rights stating that education should be free, the main aim of the website is to make it possible for anyone to study anything, at any time, at any subject level, online for free.

Although it is a free to use service, Alison is a social enterprise that makes a profit by advertising, merchandise, and the sale of diplomas and certificates from learners who choose to buy them.

Alison is also aware that the internet is not accessible to all – to help deal with this, several ‘Alison Learning Centres’ or ‘ALCs’ have been set up in order for more people to access their e-learning courses, and to provide technical or learning support.

Several of Alison’s online e-learning courses are relevant to the construction industry, which can be accessed by clicking the links below.
