Encouraging Women into the Construction Industry through Twitter

I am part of the site team at Park Road, Wigan. As a female Site Manager in the construction industry I am passionate about encouraging women into the industry. I thought long and hard about what I could do to show/ let women know that the construction industry is changing and that construction workers are not the stereotypes that they hear about.

So I decided to start a Twitter handle in March 2018 and tweet typical conversations that I’ve heard on varying sites (including this one) by different construction site workers or different situations I have either been in or seen. The aim is to show and/ or get the message across that the conversations are just as random as the type that women talk about.

The handle is @Notjustforboys and I have done it under the anonymous name of Female Construction Site Manager as this account is solely to try and break down stereotypes and hopefully encourage more women into the industry.

I do get a messages of support and encouragement from both men and women, which is amazing!
