Engagement with Mencap

Where possible, opportunities should be created for disadvantaged people.

Working with and supporting the needs of the local community is essential in promoting the considerate nature of the construction industry.

Below is an example of how a site has achieved this:

  • Engagement with local charity Mencap, resulted in the employment of a worker with autism;
  • The site helped the individual to attain a CSR card (N. Ireland skills card), developed structured work activities and put in place a buddy system for support;
  • Mencap mentored on site every 3-4 days.
