Engaging with Students to Promote the Construction Industry as a Career Choice During the Coronavirus Pandemic

On this project, the Construction Manager carried out a virtual site tour – to London South East College Students, which was then followed by a live zoom Q&A session, giving students the opportunity to ask any questions they had. The success of this session led to another virtual tour scheduled for September 2020.

The Student Placement Team Leader’s feedback was positive and said:

“We have had some very positive feedback from the curriculum regarding the virtual site tours and we had 20 students taking part in the initial one earlier this month.”

The project team are anticipating having a much larger number of students taking part in the next virtual tour and Q&A session as they have managed to reach a much larger number of students via their tutors.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
