Engineering Assembly

2018 has been designated as the Year of Engineering by the Government.

To celebrate this, Multiplex organised an assembly based on the theme of Engineering at Carlton Primary School. Attending the event were about 90 students, aged 8 to 10.

The event was conducted in a carousel style with ‘stands’ on various themes including plumbing, hazards, problem solving and structural engineering. Aside from Multiplex staff, the event was attended by subcontractors Essex Services Group and Amery construction. Also in attendance and running a very popular stand involving engineering buildings using sticks and plasticine was a representative from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

It is expected that this assembly will encourage the students to consider engineering as a career from a very early age. In an assessment of learning following the assembly, the students showed that they had a greater knowledge about types of engineers and the different skills that are involved in engineering.
