Ensuring the Health and Wellbeing of the Workforce is Essential

As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing something dangerous like high blood pressure, heart disease or type 2 diabetes.

A health check can spot early signs and help prevent these happening.

Therefore in March this year, workers received confidential mini health checks at our Gabriel Square site; 26 people were seen in total.

Measurements were taken of blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol, glucose levels for diabetes, height and weight for body mass index calculation and also waist to hip ratio.

Employees were given their results at the end of the consultation as well as guidance and evidenced based literature on a variety of health matters such as, cholesterol and blood pressure lowering, healthy eating, giving up smoking and managing alcohol consumption.

Those found to have a high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol level were informed of the importance of further investigation and advised to see their GP.
