Ensuring the wellbeing of our workforce

The Stepnell Care UK site team in Bromsgrove are actively promoting wellbeing to our workforce and our subcontractors’ workforce, and have established a dedicated wellbeing station on site. This comprises a blood pressure monitor, weighing scales and tape measure, together with individual ‘Wellbeing Records’ enabling everyone on site to regularly monitor their weight, measurements and blood pressure.

A ‘Wellbeing Calendar’ covering the duration of the project has also been established, which covers a different health topic each month, for example:

  • January’s focus was alcohol and drugs awareness. Our site team all took part in ‘Dry January’ and a range of literature was displayed at the wellbeing station, and a drugs and alcohol awareness toolbox talk was given to the workforce.
  • February’s focus is mental health. Again, a range of mental health literature has been displayed, and a toolbox talk on mental health, work and wellbeing briefed to everyone on site. The team are also supporting the Time to Change organisation’s ‘Time to Talk’ day on Thursday 2nd February and have a Time to Change champion on site on the day giving an awareness talk to everyone to try and get people talking about mental health to end the stigma associated with it.
  • March’s focus is Prostate Cancer, to coincide with Prostate Cancer awareness month. A range of literature has already been obtained and a health talk from Prostate Cancer UK booked for the 1st March to launch the month’s health topic.

There is also an array of literature on a number of health topics displayed, which is refreshed on a monthly basis to tie in with that month’s health topic.
