Graham Construction were appointed to provide engineering, design and construction services for a number of projects across the LLW nuclear waste site.

These works have to be carried out in line with the LLWR environmental mission: “When operations have ceased, to leave the site in a state that enhances the environment

The LLWR site is adjacent to a SSSI and SAC and has important populations of EPS such as Great Crested Newts. The SSSI is also home to Natterjack Toads and both areas contain large populations of slow worms, adders, lizards and other newts. The site itself also is home to badgers, deer and a variety of other mustelids.

With so many restrictions and species on site works we wanted to create a visual guide, aimed mainly at the site operatives, that clearly shows when certain works can be considered and carried out, It also acts as that final check to be viewed before works actually start. It is proving invaluable and feedback is positive in that its is proving to be real benefit.
