Although all construction sites are different, there are some common risks which can be found on most, if not all. For example, where plant and machinery are working, there is always a risk of fuel leaks and hydraulic oil spills into the environment. It is therefore imperative that trained personnel alongside relevant equipment and supplies are on hand to tackle such incidents.

The contractor have created an ‘Environmental Response Trailer’ to enable the rapid response to all types of incident, at anytime, anywhere on their construction sites. It is fully stocked with a range of materials to enable the team to effectively contain a situation when it happens onsite.

The branded response trailer is available internally through the plant desk and materials are purchased by the project team direct from preferred suppliers.

Examples of materials and supplies include:

  • Spill mats, booms and cushions
  • Hazardous waste bags
  • Plant nappies
  • Absorbent granules
  • Drainage matts and sealing putty
  • Silt socks, silt fencing and posts
  • Buckets, brushes and shovels

Not only does it enable quick response to incidents, but it also boosts project team’s confidence in their ability to mitigate spills and their detrimental impacts.

The trailer can be tailored to the specific issues and risks the construction site faces.

A simple and practical solution that can be used as an emergency control measure on-site. Formidable best practice. Well done
