Face Fit Testing

As part of Structures “Face up to dust” health campaign we carried out face fit testing at our £7.1 million food production unit in Park Royal, London.

We carried out qualitative face fitting testing with all our employees.

We wanted to determine the effectiveness of disposable one-use masks versus half face masks.

We tested FFP3 disposable masks and silicone half masks. Whilst the disposables may seem to be cheaper, an employee may use up to three of these per day which can cost up to £9.00 per day.

At the cheaper end of the scale, we found that 2 out of 5 masks failed the test. Wearers also found these uncomfortable.
