Fire Safety Grab Bag

Lauren Shaw, a Galliford Try Highways graduate engineer, came up with the idea of a fire safety kit bag or ‘grab bag’ and this has been put forward for a company MAGIC (make a good idea count) award.

The ‘grab bag’, a green luminous rucksack, contains a torch, clipboard, pens, first aid kit, fire safety briefing paper, fire extinguisher identification chart, local emergency service contact details and compound layout plan – all the items that a Fire Marshall would require in the event of a fire alarm.

Also, how often when the alarm goes off, do you find that the keys to the site van have been left in the office and someone needs to go somewhere to pick up some water or snacks, for example, for those left standing outside the offices?

The ‘grab bag”’therefore contains a set of keys for the site’s shared 4×4. The ‘grab bag’ is located near to the office fire exit, adjacent to the office defibrillator.
