First Response Emergency Care Site Responder

This project have a trained Level 3 First Response Emergency Care (FREC3) Responder on site to support with any potential incidents.

This ensures that if there is an incident on site they have better skills and knowledge to deal with it.

The additional skills they are able to perform are:

  • Medical emergencies – Clinical lead until emergency services arrive
  • Patient assessment
  • Airway management
  • Return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) procedures
  • Emergency oxygen
  • Traumatic injuries
  • Catastrophic bleeding
  • Helmet removal
  • Neck, spine and pelvic immobilisation
  • Environmental exposure

The person holding this position now leads first aid across the project, ensuring equipment and key personnel are on site at all times along with a team of ex-forces personnel that also have advanced training. The team consistently review procedure across site and refresh their advances skills.

The team also perform refresher sessions for all first aiders, both internal and subcontractor, reminding them of the key info they would have learnt in their training, ensuring it is fresh and relevant to them all to help build confidence.
