Fliegl Trailer using Pushout Technology
The transportation and delivery of asphalt is largely unknown and unquantified in terms of controlling quality. The processes involved in conventional tipper technology also bring increased costs, health and safety risks and carbon emissions. This contractor sought to improve this through the introduction of the Fliegl Trailer using Pushout Technology on this project.
The unique horizontal pushout design mixes the load as it ejects into the paver. This technology improves the homogeneity of temperature and particle size during discharge, improving quality and durability of asphalt pavements.
Thermal imaging camera technology was deployed during testing to monitor the temperatures of the mat and enable comparison with conventional haulage tippers.
This increased consistency and reduced the number of road failure points. Costs were reduced due to intermediary machines not being required and as a result carbon emission was also down. The horizontal discharge allows for a safer environment as no tipping is involved which also adds to the versatility of the vehicle in being able to access harder to reach areas.
