Free Lunch Bag Initiative

This contractor has introduced a free lunch bag initiative on their project.

They have had some employability work placements who used what money they had to travel to site so they introduced the ‘Free Lunch’ initiative to them as young people would be less likely to speak up and tell the team on site they don’t have anything to eat.

This led to further investigations and they introduced the initiative to the wider site to take away the stigma of in-work poverty. The lunch bags are for anyone who finds themselves without lunch and no means to buy lunch.

This initiative is promoted to anyone on a work placement and all site operatives at induction and they offer a no questions asked approach so that no one is poverty shamed.
