Frontline Supervisor Development Programme

On the Battersea Phase 3a site, Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) has worked with Create the Space to develop an Institute Leadership and Management Level 3 Accredited course, the Frontline Supervisor Development Programme specifically for Works Managers. SRM recognises the importance of their Works Managers and the skills required to succeed, therefore we wanted to make training available for existing and inspiring Works Managers to improve their management and leadership skills.

The 16 month course covers aspects of the role across 11 modules, which include: sustainability, people management, leadership and supervisory skills. This ensures that Works Managers are equipped with all of the skills they need to effectively manage a diverse team of individuals, in addition to receiving a qualification for this.

The course is broken down into face-to-face modules that are taught and assessed during tutored lessons, and ILM assignments that have to be completed and marked once the have completed learning a module. It is important to assess progress and make sure that attendees are improving their skills.

If this course was adopted across the industry, it mean that more Works Managers benefit from a higher level of education and training and have a better understanding as to their management style and how they can best engage with their team to fulfil their potential and work effectively on a project.
