The Girl Dreamer Academy programme is an empowerment platform for women and girls of colour. Through leadership development programmes, adventure sport and digital content they aim to build confidence and unleash the potential of girls everywhere.
Girl Dreamer likes to push the boundaries, test the waters and go full throttle at everything they do. From setting up the UK’s first ethnically diverse female long boarding crew to running an intense six month personal and professional development programme for girls in schools and creating digital animation to highlight the struggles of a millennial girl of colour, they do things a little differently and do things wholeheartedly.
Taking the approach of what was missing when we were growing up, they are trying to change and shape the teen and young adult journey of the next generation. Ensuring they educate, elevate and empower them to go on to do, be and achieve more. They are on a mission to break stereotypes, barriers and restrictions in order to build inclusion, representation and access, and Willmott Dixon are sponsoring them to run a yearlong programme next year with University of Birmingham (UoB) School.
The UoB School, Willmott Dixon and Girl Dreamer collaboration consists of:
Any pre-assessment that schools need to ensure that the programme is right for them or that it will bring them the impactful results they need, can be provided for re-assurance.
Willmott Dixon will also be putting out some profiles of our Girl Dreamer alumni over our years of programmes, which will highlight the journeys these girls have been on since interacting with us years ago and how far they’ve come as a result of our programmes. This will further support the impact measurement and maybe give a wider idea of how effective the programmes are.
