Great Crested Newt Management

Here at Whittington College Felbridge, there are large amounts of wildlife. To avoid any damage or risk to this wildlife we have set a number of rules into place these include:

  • Toolbox talks upon induction regarding what the potential animals are and their preferred habitat;
  • Explanation in induction on the procedure of what to do if a protected animal is found;
  • Signage throughout site of the great crested newt keeping awareness up;
  • Visiting ecologist to ensure we are doing the best we can to manage any protected species;
  • Ensuring all materials are kept on pallets and trenches have newt escape ramps.

Using these techniques to keep the workforce engaged regarding the potential finding of protected animals will ensure they are safe guarded whilst the project goes on.
