Green Team Initiative

The Green team at Abbey Road Phase 1 is working on a few initiatives beyond the standard ISO 14001 waste and energy reductions that will be realistic and achievable for a company of this size.

Using open discussion, participating in talks and attending various courses to learn more and taking the lead in sustainability and environment, the Green Team have already spotted some ‘quick wins’ to reduce energy consumption within our office and site

  • Switching to LED lighting
  • Using reusable water bottles not disposable cups
  • Upcycling wood, old safety helmets and used safety boots
  • Undertaking an energy management survey to assess energy waste and inefficient habits at work. This will enable us to formulate a proposal:
    • To install energy saving devices to ensure technology is not left on standby unnecessarily.
    • To roll out clear communications to staff to enforce ‘best practice’ and take responsibility for reducing energy consumption at their place of work.

We also promote and take part in bi-monthly litter picks involving sub-contractors and residents around the site. It is an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
