The project is installing ground source heat pumps with a dedicated plant room, supported by boreholes drilled to depths of approximately 205 metres.
Using Erda Deep’s patented geo-exchange technology, the system requires up to ten times fewer boreholes and 90% less space than traditional ground source heat pump installations. Black Mountain Renewables is currently the only licensed contractor in the UK authorised to carry out these specialist drilling operations on behalf of Erda.
This renewable energy solution provides significant long-term energy and carbon savings by utilising stable underground temperatures for heating and cooling. The reduced space requirements make the technology suitable for a wider range of projects, while eliminating the need for gas as an energy source. The result is a low-carbon, energy-efficient system that supports sustainability goals and delivers lasting environmental and operational benefits.
