GRP Hole Protection

On site, GRP Grating have been cast into slab on all Floor Riser Openings. This gave a maximum span of 1280mm at a maximum point load of 150KG. This method of hole protection has worked extremely well, and the decision was made to use this ‘solid top type’ of hole covering for waterproofing reasons. From a health and safety point, it also eliminated the risk of falling debris.

The fibreglass covered grating offered many benefits such as:

  • Anti-Slip Surface
  • Lightweight
  • Fire Resistant
  • Corrosion Resistant
  • Non-Magnetic
  • Impact Resistant
  • Maintenance Free
  • Attractive Design

British Standard Slip Resistance Test Results

The B.S. 4592 test was devised to test and assess the slip resistance of industrial type flooring intended for use in water and wet areas. A co-efficient of friction (CoF) is calculated by determining the mean angle of inclination that an operator can safely maintain when the flooring is subjected to a continuous stream of water. Dura grating achieved a score of 1.04.
