Hand Arm Vibration Safety

Hand arm vibration is an occupational hazard that can very often be forgotten about when carrying out risk assessments and while completing tasks. We have been focusing on the risks associated with hand arm vibration and how it can impact workers’ health as well as how it can be prevented.

We have provided toolbox talk presentations on how injuries from hand arm vibration can take place and provided real life examples of how this will impact workers’ health, and also provided the necessary information that can be taken to prevent injuries from hand arm vibration.

On site, to ensure that staff can be clear of how long they are safe to use equipment, informative posters are on display, and the limit values on each tool have been generated and installed on the lid of the tool vault on site. As we have a only a small number of tools, this is easy to read and can be clearly understood.

As numbers on site are small, with a number of smaller companies working on site, it is not feasible for vibration monitors to be purchased by many subcontractors. As such, we have also taken time with the Supervisors on site to ensure all our subcontractors are taking similar measures to ensure their staff’s safety.

By creating awareness of the risks from hand arm vibration, we hope that the message can be received and understood by all workers on site.
