The coronavirus pandemic has presented the greatest global challenge which has significantly impacted on our daily life, society and the economy. This project continues to implement and operate under strict coronavirus controls, which continues to evolve with best practice in the industry as it presents itself, but more importantly everything implemented is based on guidance from The Construction Leadership Council and Scottish Government Guidance.
They have a team of coronavirus ambassadors on the project who are continuously reviewing and reflecting on how to ensure they are doing everything possible to play their part in preventing the spread of coronavirus.
To enhance their comprehensive coronavirus controls they researched other industry practices specifically focusing on the healthcare and food industry to establish best practice for hand washing techniques to improve infection control and cross contamination onsite. Through doing this this they came across ‘Hand Hygiene Inspection Stations’ which have UV lamps within them.
After hand washing operatives can apply UV disclosing lotion and insert their hands into the station which identifies whether or not they have been properly washed. Mini workshops were rolled out and guidance posters displayed on how to use the stations and the initiative has received extremely complimentary positive feedback. These stations have proved to be a great way to engage with the workforce about the importance of good hand hygiene, as well as raising the standard.
