The site manager has discussed introducing electronic ear defenders which amplify ambient sounds to enhance the wearer’s awareness of their environment whilst providing hearing protection for sounds that are above 82 decibels.
These have the benefit over traditional ear defenders or plugs given that noise is not entirely eliminated below this level. This allows the wearer to communicate with their colleagues without having to remove them, ensuring they are always protected from potentially harmful sound levels.
