Healthy Living Day

We held a Healthy Living Day on site after our Site Manager managed to drop his BMI from 31.2 (Obese) to 24.6 (Ideal) in just 6 months. A board was created for the workforce to refer to throughout the day. The board included the Site Manager’s healthy eating and exercise regime, along with his before and after pictures to give the guys a visual aid on what can be achieved. We also included a couple of healthy recipes, healthy eating guide, gym information with offers, and information about a boxing club (which management had been asked about by the operatives).

Scales and a measuring tape were available for the guys to pin their BMI onto a chart on the board. This went down quite well with a few operatives taking part and it shows a trend on site about our general weight. This was done anonymously with no names attached to the pins, so as not to discourage anybody.

A 30 day challenge booklet was created which incorporated; a food challenge, exercise challenges and a weight chart where they could put in their weight every day for the 30 days.

We supplied free fruit for the operatives, which was so well received that only one apple remained by the end of the day.

Late afternoon all operatives on site came to the canteen for a fruit and vegetable anagram quiz. They really got into the spirit of this with a lot of laughter, to keep in with the theme there were prizes for 1st – bunch of bananas, 2nd – bag of apples and 3rd a single apple!

We believe the day was a fun way to encourage the workforce to think more about healthy lifestyles.
