Helmet Tethering for Working at Height

As an industry we have started to tether pretty much anything that could be dropped and cause significant harm to anyone working below, this includes tools and materials.

On this project they realised that they had ignored the fact that hard hats are one of the things most likely to be dropped, especially during high winds and working in awkward positions. Following this they have made it mandatory on their site that all site operatives and supervisors must wear a tether which is connected to both the hard hat and the persons hi-viz vest or jacket.

They determined that by introducing this as a minimum standard they would eliminate hard hats from the list of possible dropped objects. This is especially important on a site where site boundaries are very small and are in very close proximity to the public.
