High Stakes Civil Engineering Game

This initiative relates to the development and production of a team game which uses real life civil engineering scenarios to demonstrate how decisions made on site can have more or less impact on impacted communities and stakeholders. The game is designed to be interactive, fun and memorable.

The aim is to provide an awareness and understanding of how and why customer complaints and enquiries are generated. It is hoped that with a better understanding of the works impact, decisions about site management will be more thoughtful, ultimately leading to fewer complaints. The aim was to produce a game that will showcase real life scenarios and the impact of decisions made on site.

The result will be a better-educated project team with regard to stakeholder impact. Whilst it is understood that project teams can’t always make the decisions that they would like, having a better understanding of the potential impacts prior to making those decisions will help to minimise the number and type of complaints received on a project.

The contractor is using the game in their graduate programme to provide graduates with an early opportunity to understand stakeholder impact issues.
