Highlighting the area’s history to the workforce

Involvement with the local area and the workforce is a great way of gaining support and building relationships throughout the project.

Giving back something unique to the community will leave a positive lasting impression after the project has been completed.

This company communicated the history of the site to their employees and visitors by doing the following:

  • The site’s Community Liaison Officer wrote and produced what looks like a front page newspaper article on the site’s history/ heritage as a former US naval base in WW2 which was operational until 1977;
  • The informative and interesting article entitled “Where we work” is picture sized and displayed on the wall in site reception creating a superb impression of respect for the site’s past usage, rich history and heritage;
  • This provided the site with the opportunity to highlight any sensitive issues to staff and visitors and promote respect for the community they were working in.
