Staff on the York Community Stadium site highlighted that the weekly Safety and Environmental inspections being carried out by Production Managers didn’t include the other team members on site.
Each Production Manager was assigned two buddies from the site team (Commercial, Design and Apprentice Technicians) to take around site during the inspection rota.
This means each staff member carries out one Safety and one Environmental inspection every 6 weeks.
The benefits of this are that it gives non-production staff an insight to the challenges faced on site, as well as a fresh set of eyes to look for potential problems and helps build teamwork for all those involved.
The final challenge was that each buddy was to raise at least one near miss report after each inspection.
