On The Broadway project, we have issued an app called ‘Hub of Hope’ to all staff working on the project. The Hub of Hope is a national mental health database which brings together organisations and charities, large and small, from across the country that offer mental health advice and support, together in one place. The Hub of Hope has reached right across the United Kingdom via an online database and an app which is easily accessible to everyone.

Once you are signed in, the app requests your postcode and offers you services close to your location by giving you a list of charities you can talk to or visit from Mind, Hearing Voices, the Samaritans, Childline, Step Forward, plus many more. The app has a direct link to all of the charities and also has a link to ‘talk to the app’, which monitors for immediate assistance from a group as well as a free chat text service.

We feel the app is a great help for all our staff, as it can be used close to the project as well as externally e.g. near home and can be shared with friends and family, as it is completely free to access. We all know that not everyone feels confident approaching a designated mental health first aider for fear of being judged, so as well as having persons undertaking the mental health first aid role, we use the app to assist with additional support and signposting.
