This contractor is using HVO Green D+ as an alternative fuel type made from Hydro Treated Vegetable Oil to replace white diesel. The fuel reduces emissions, NOx and particulate matter, greatly improving air quality.

The contractor are currently using the HVO fuel in their welfare van and the site road sweeper. Going forward they will be suppling two forklifts for the project, which will be fuelled by a red version of the HVO fuel.

HVO reduces NOx by 30%, Particulate Matter (PM) by 86% and CO2e by 90%. CO2e reduction of 90% is based on well to wheel DEFRA values (Scope 1 & 3).

The benefits of this are:

  • Delivered 1000 litres to site which has reduced CO2e by 2.8 metric tonnes to date.
  • Lower NOx in the exhaust will require less Adblue, we don’t have the Adblue volume or comparative usage to be able to quantify.
  • Delivered in tanker powered by HVO so supply chain CO2e reduced.
