Costain have been working closely with one of their supply chain, Taylor Construction Plant, who supply our hydrogen power lighting solutions and CCTV systems.
The Costain environment team were having difficulty in maintaining a reliable static noise monitoring capacity at remote sites away from site power supplies – the battery powered noise monitors were troublesome and needed regular battery changes, and the solar powered option was too large and unsuitable for the majority of applications.
The Costain team identified a potential solution by combining the silent, zero emission hydrogen fuel cell technology with our existing noise monitor equipment.
We are currently using the unit on site and the unit is proving reliable, produces no emissions and will power the equipment for an extended period.
The noise monitor can be accessed remotely by both the project team and the local authority to ensure noise levels are within permitted limits.
We are currently working with TCP to develop the product further, exploring the potential of additional features.
