Identifying Risks via a Site Survey

Balfour Beatty employed an independent company to carry out a safety climate survey of all staff, workforce, designers, clients and subcontractors on site.

The purpose of the survey was to explore the risks that individual may take, their views on managers, their understanding of acceptable behaviours, whether they take risks over time, whether they were asked to take risks and would they stop if the knew a situation was not safe.

The independent company analysed the trends and comments, and then issued a report and presentation, highlighting areas of achievement and areas requiring attention.

The results allowed the site team to form an action plan to be developed which was specific to the issues and observations raised.
