The Manchester Metrolink – Trafford Park Line project has incorporated a medication check within the induction process.

This system utilises the ‘Chemist on Call’ service and is as follows:

  • Inductees advise all current medication and/or medical conditions prior to induction.
  • The medication is submitted to the ‘Chemist on Call’ system and assessed.
  • Feedback is provided advising the medication risks and any potential side effects.
  • Operatives are approved to work on site and working restrictions implemented if necessary.

The Chemist on Call system is also made available following the induction to quickly assess employee medication and advise their suitability to work. This system has been extremely effective in highlighting the potential risks medications pose and has ensured all personnel are fit for work.
