Induction Room Screening During Social Distancing

Operatives and supervisors have been encouraged at the Broadway project to speak out with ideas when it comes to how we can best create social distancing on site. One black hat came up with the idea of using Ascot’s pro screens for the induction room, to assist with getting those returning to work, through a specialised COVID-19 re-induction, and with critical safety meetings where a number of attendees are required.

The 3mm thick clear perspex is held together with powder-coated aluminium and are quick and easy to assemble. All components are able to be cleaned easily and quickly. All parts can be recycled at end of life, and support UK trade as they are manufactured here.

This design will allow us to raise the number of those we can induct from 6 people 2m apart to 15 with partitions, in an induction room that previously held 40 at a time.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
