Pan-Tilt-Zoom CCTV System

The site has implemented a CCTV system using Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras supporting privacy masking. Privacy masking ‘grey box’ blanks appear whenever the camera is panned, titled or zoomed.

The mask is re-positioned and resized so that it continues to cover the original masked area, ensuring the same object is always hidden from view, regardless of the PTZ position.

This means that no one monitoring the CCTV system can zoom in and look through the windows of adjacent houses and flats, maintaining privacy. This is particularly important as the development is in a sensitive area and being able to reassure neighbours of their privacy is a very positive feature.

Six providers of CCTV systems were interviewed, with only the chosen system being able to provide this important capability.
