Interviews to Assess Supervisors’ Qualifications

To ensure a safe and well managed site, all personnel should be appropriately qualified to undertake the tasks assigned to them.

This site wanted to guarantee levels of training and competencies, using methods over and above what was already implemented on site:

  • Trade contractor supervisors were given an interview to assess their competencies;
  • If any deficiencies were identified, the project team management worked alongside the trade contractor to implement an action plan;
  • The inclusion of an interview went beyond normal checks carried out (e.g. course qualifications and competency card checks) and meant that if appropriate the trade contractors were up skilled to the same level as supervisory personnel.
