Introducing Ambassadors to Manage Alcohol and Drugs on Site

A proactive approach to managing drugs and alcohol on site is important.

Operatives need to be of a fit state of mind and have sound judgement to ensure the safety of themselves and others on site.

Below is an example of how a site used ambassadors to manage the issue of drugs and alcohol:

  • Alcohol and drugs ‘Ambassadors’ were appointed at peer group level;
  • They would look out for signs of abuse and provide guidance on good practice and health issues arising;
  • The advice and guidance at peer group level was aimed at education and deterrence.
